grape vine for pergola.
i think i have enough space,ihave built a 18 ft long by 6ft wide pergola,the
south facing corner i want to grow the grape vine up and over. The west
facing side on the middle post the wisteria,(Wisteria brachybotris "SCHOWA
BENI")this one grows up to 4/6 metres at the most.Without sounding rude no
one has really answered my Q ,can anyone recommend a variety that will grow
up a pergola & have good tasting grapes,i know i am asking alot in our
climate as most, to fruit well need a greenhouse .
Thanks Keith,UK.

Um, do you mean you are planning to grow a wisteria and a grape vine on
the
same pergola? If so, I think you may need to re-think, unless the pergola
is a large one. Wisterias are very large vigorous plants, and grapes need
plenty of sun to crop well.
I'd be worried about shading out the vine with the wisteria - unless you
have plenty of room to prune both and keep them more or less separate.
