My question is whether it is safe to let some leaves
remain on the borders bearing in mind that I have just planted about 50
new
plug plants (mainly ground cover) or is it best to keep these new plants
uncovered?


Within reason , I would try to get them all picked up. Anything left
behind is potentially a home for things which might want to sneak out and
feast on your plants.
