Slugs and beer!

My sister has an extensive hosta garden, and slugs are a real problem for
her. She now swears by this little mixture.
There is a new product, too, that is pellets containing iron and
phosphate. The slugs eat it and die. It isn't a toxic poison, and
will degrade over time into the soil.
